This is my EJ22T swap in my 89 RX. It will idle at 2k and rise to 2.5k. I can blip the throttle and it will drop, but rise again after several seconds.
I've have changed out the IAC and TPS with no improvement. Cleaned the MAF, checked for vac leaks. Also made sure I had the wiring correct.
I'm thinking of changing out the ECU today to see if this makes a difference.

Re: Idle issue
Have a data cable and software? I'd check the ECU parameters for throttle position, closed throttle, and idle switch. Possibly the the TPS needs to get adjusted...

Re: Idle issue
No, no cable or software.
I did read the thread about making the cable and stuff, might consider that.

Re: Idle issue
You may want to try testing/adjusting the idle switch if you haven't done so yet.

Re: Idle issue
Ok, finally getting some where.
First off, the ECS light is different than the Engine/Ign light on the dash(on my RX)
Once I hooked up the signal wire from the ECU to the correct EA harness wire(which I had to trace from the board on the dash), I got a code, hura!
Popped out a 24 code, the IAC..........go figure
A friend with a EJ came by today and we did a quick test on his IAC. We unplugged it and the car idle decreased but didnt die, basically what mine did.
I tested the power to my IAC and its good, 11v+ The ohms at the IAC was 10.5 when it was supposed to be 9, so I'm swapping it out for another one that tested at 9ohms.
Hopefully this will do the trick (fingers/toes crossed)
