Strange boost/vac gauge readings?

Post by Mikerthebiker »

so i just installed a VDO boost/vac gauge in my car and seem to be getting strange readings, boost seems to be working normal. but at idle the needle sits calm at zero, if im reving or cruising under around 2000 rpm the gauge goes down to about 10in/hg. and once the turbo kicks in the gauge reads about 6psi. all in all the car idles/drives fine... :?

ive searched around and cant seem to find anyone with similar problems, anyone able to give me an idea of where to even start looking?

On my car the boost gauge reads around 18in/hg on idle I believe and probably around 0 on cruise and hits boost around 3-3.5K under decent load. I don't know if that's normal or not though lol.

There might be a leak near or in the boost gauge line...double your fittings and lines.

Double check all the fittings, but I'd also suspect a bad gauge.

Try swapping it to a different vacuum line for the reading.
