Well you know how we have the 3 vac lines from our BCS, the bottom one that use the connect to the Black resonator now does not have a place to go. I was wondering if i should use to "T" and have it connected to the intake somehow

Yes, you should use a tee and tie it back into the intake before the turbo.

the nipple on the back of the apexi elbow is for the bcs, which by the looks of the pic the charcoal line is crammed on there? you can remove that canister line and the little valve T'd off the manifold and use a n/a canister

So ditch the turbo canister and hook the line to the BCS?

So does this mean this gets removed?

Is that vent line currently hooked up? If you run the non-turbo canister, it will only have two lines, one will go in, and one will go out to the canister purge solenoid. You will then eliminate the line in the picture.

If you don't have the non-turbo canister, put a plug on that third port on the canister.

Then you'll have a spot to put the vent line for the BCS.

Or just get a manual boost controller and eliminate that BCS vent line all together. :)

I know this is a little old thread but I wanted to add my opinion for anyone looking to buy this intake.

This is a well built setup and easy to install! Definitely can feel the increase in the top end. Also since I have a bleed valve style boost controller I was able to install the purge line in the vacuum port on the intake. If you have the chance I would buy this since it looks so much nicer than the coffee can mod.

I got mine from them back in '12. I honestly saw no performance increase, but it sounds cooler and frees up some space. And the Apexi filter is built pretty darn well too.

I purchased mine off of ebay for about 150 bucks the seller had many more too. I was able to find it by searching the Apexi part number on ebay.

Edit x2: ......that pic is for the newer style w/the non-integrated MAF and tube.

They do state 'picture is reference only', but does list the correct P/N.

Their email verified that they use the same pic for ALL their intakes (lame).





THIS ONE is correct, but $170.

Rally sport does have 'em for ~$140.

James - you ran this on your current Rob Tune, correct?

From what I've read the stock system flows OK - @ stock levels - I'm not sure if it suffers once more air is needed w/the bigger turbo/injectors.

Plus, this kit is still sucking air from under the hood; not the fender. I'd build some kind of heat shield, like on the Cobb kits for the WRX/STi.

I've had it since my car was stock. Now that I have a Robtune, I guess I'm not in a position to say it doesn't perform better, as I never had a stock intake on my current setup. I've thought about making a heat shield, doesn't seem too hard. Maybe someday.

Will installing the resonator delete and keeping the stock airbox in there work easy? I've ordered it, but I'm not that interested in the pod filter since it will not give me much increase or better fuel economy and such, or will it? I hate intake noise that's why.

I am using the stock airbox with a custom coffee cup, and im using the stock 90*s as well.

What do people do with the big line that original sits on the rubber hose just before the airfilter box itself? The one that comes from the thing before the charcoal canister and routes around the airbox, then sliding on to a thing on top of the hose?

I bought bulk PCV hose from a parts store and routed it under the maf i believe.

That's one way yeah, but what happens if I pull of the hose, and the t and just plug the port on the Charcoal canister? Will it decrease power? And one more thing, I see that the filter is not supported up by anything, won't it strain the MAF wires and knock on various parts?

So are you trying to install a hot air intake? If you do something like in the above picture, I'd recommend securing it to the bracket behind it with zip ties or similar. I could see hundreds or thousands of miles fatiguing it (the plastic piece after the maf) if unsupported.

You could plug the canister and remove / cap off the hoses if you like, but I've noticed without it you get more gas smell in the engine bay and cabin.

Honestly though, the stock airbox isn't a restriction under a metric crap ton of horsepower. You also get the huge benefit of drawing cold air through the fender instead of hot engine bay air.

People remove the stock resonater and "snorkus" in the fender (that the air box draws air through - it's function is to not let any water into the intake as well as dampen the sound). I could see those as being restrictions in the setup, however. Personally I like the snorkus for safety.

Sounds like a lot of work for nothing installing this intake really... But since I don't have the equipment to weld me a "coffe cup" mod I thought that the silver piece in this kit would be a nice thing, but is the resonator really that much of a restrictiion? Never ever will it gain like 5 hp from removing it. I've always loved stock airboxes, but since I'm upgrading to a FMIC later down the road and I don't intend to drill a hole for it, the filter was a good buy, atleast I thought so.
