Custom CAI or SRI

Post by Thesubielover »

Is there anyone out there that has used everything of the stock intake system except the air box to make a CAI or SRI?

Yeah, I had one on my wagon for a little while. I just unbolted the maf from the airbox, bought a universal maf adapter and drilled new holes for it to line up to my maf, then put a cone filter on. I only used it for a week or two cuz i could't fit the stock air box in due to my intercooler piping went right by where the airbox should be.

Do you have pictures? Great information! Thanks man, I'm in seattle. I'll give you a PM if I'm ever out your way to go snowboarding.

I may have a pic, I'll have to look. Honestly though, a K&N panel filter would probably be better than the setup I had. Without the air box to support the MAF, the MAF will bounce around unless you put a bracket on the MAF adapter. If you're looking to do a better intake, delete the snorkus in the fender, and delete the resonator with a straight pipe. If you search, you can find more details on it. Lots of people have done it on here and it will bring better results than just slapping a cone filter on. As far as snowboarding, that'd be cool. I haven't been at all this year which sucks but haven't had time with building all 3 of my cars. Last year, I worked at Mt. Spokane so I got to go snowboarding everyday for free.
