Use Ej20G manifold for newer turbos?

Post by station2stattion »

Ive been trying to research what to do.
I have a VF48 turbo, and I want to run newer style intake.
I have decide the EJ251 heads are too gray area.

I think I should be able to use Ej20G/K intake manifold and use 02+ intake setups since they do not have the 90.

I have read and read but every time I search it, it is a discussion about heads. I just want to do a manifold swap to make the turbo fit less obtrusively.

Kimokalihi is using an under inlet manifold. I think the key is using 8mm phenolic spacers for the manifold and making your own fuel lines.

lol making your own fuel lines would make it fit a lot easier if you use an aftermarket silicone intake under the manifold like I have. I had to bend my lines to get it to clear and still the fit was tighter than a nun's cunt. Most EJ20G manifolds are the same as the EJ22T manifold basically so you'll probably want one from a forester. Be warned, if you use the phenolic spacers like I did you'll probably hit the hood with the coolant tank, the pipe on top of the manifold from the IAC and the coil pack. Had to take my mini sledge to my hood to remedy that.

I have a 20k intake that I bought to use on 25d heads, there is quite a bit more clearance under them, but the TB/IAC are also completely different.

I am just realizing this too...am I losing the power steering pump? Never thought about that...

Thank you for the replies... I was afraid of double posting something or asking an annoying question. I usually never post because I can find whatever it is I am researching.

You can get the right pump or one with a remote reservoir such as the wrx one.
