Stumbled across this (Intake Elbow) while looking for parts

Post by cj91legss »

While buying parts for the 06 tmic install for the girlfriend, I found this gem. Even tho it's 3" in and out I feel like this could be useful.

Its for a BMW but looks fairly similar to out intake elbow. It's missing one hole for the BPV but we could figure that out later.

Looks like it could be made to work. But for that much money, can't the Canadian members here order up the OEM elbow still?

Why wouldn't auto guys need a bpv? Our throttle plate closes when we left off the gas same as you manual hoons.

Yeah but your throttle plate isnt closed any near the amount of time a plate is closed on a 5 speed. Think about it, just cruisimg, its hardly closed at all. Where as whenever we shift its closed. Only time its closed on an auto is when its at a stop light or youre applying brake. Right?

I let off the gas all the time. Pretty much anytime I want to go less fast than I am, or stop accelerating, the throttle closes. And that's fairly often. I've always heard the BPV doing its job during regular driving, even before my TD04/intake.

When the car is setup for handling, you still balance it with the throttle regardless of transmission type.

Nice find. I'm curious to see how much 'work' it would require to fit.

Yes, you still need the BPV, regardless of the transmission type.

Personally for a little more money id rather have a durable silicone elbow, and run a BOV so that hole isnt needed.

The only thing that sucks but is manageable is the 3" inlet and outlet...
