What's the best thing to do? ABS tubing OR velocity stack?

What's the best thing to do? ABS tubing OR velocity stack?

Post by Danteandsoob »

So my legacy has no snorkus, but I does have the tube that goes from the snorkus up to the airbox, is this adiquite enough for air flow? Because if not, I was thinking of running ABS plastic tubing from the front of the car (behind the front bumper) up to the hole in the airbox. Would this show any gains or would it be very negligible? If not this, could I take the existing tube off and just put a velocity stack in the fender hole and see the same results?

You'd be better off probably removing the old tube and either leaving the airbox inlet hole as is or you may see a little benefit from putting a velocity stack on there.

So is the air up around the airbox hole of high pressure just like the front of the car where I would duct the tubing up to?

No it's not. You could run a tube to the front of the car to make a "ram" air style intake, but if you put it low you can risk the chance of ingesting larger amounts of water.

I don't know if you'll notice much of a difference, but you can give it a try.
