EJ20g Injectors with ej22t ECU

Post by xbmxxx »

Ive heard of a few people on here using the EJ20g manifolds and injectors on their 22t/25d cars with the stock ECU with minimal issues (other then fuel mileage). This is my current setup, but it is running RICH, Im talking smoke out the shop on startup rich, it also idles real high (2200) until it warms up when it drops to 1000rpm but then it trips a CEL. Are these things normal with this setup? I have a Robtune for it but haven't had time to get in to the wiring of it all. Thanks!

I would recommend putting the stockers back in till you get the robtune in. The car runs so much better on the stock ecu and injectors, even with a hybrid engine.

My Roomate had a fully built ej25"K" hybrid with stock em and injectors and it was an absolute animal off the line. Top end was non existant though lol. So we put on JDM injectors. Throttle response went to shit. Fuel economy went to shit. The top end power was a little better, but it was dumping so much fuel during wot.

Unfortunately he sold it before getting EM, so we never got to see what the engine was capable of. But the graytops made it run far worse while on the stock ecu.

Some people have luck with the car not running like total crap on higher flow injectors, but the bottom line is it will run very rich with higher flowing injectors and no engine management compensation. Ones who don't have black smoke and stumbling still are wasting tons of gas and hurting power. Keep the proper injectors with the ECU and you will have a much better time.

I used 440s on my ss with my hybrid swap. I only got 16-18 mpg, but whenever I went somewhere I got there fast. My car seemed to run fine. I didn't mind dealing with the richness because I could afford the gas.
