anyone kno how difficult it is to change the backlight bulbs in the speedo/tach and AC? and the best way to get at them?

Take the dash cover off that surrounds the gauges. Then remove the cluster. The lights are mounted on the back of the cluster for the illumination.
The lights that indicate turn signals, doors and gear position are in the front so you will have to take the cluster apart.

ok what about the lights behind the climate control stuff tho? can those be changed?

Hmm, I would assume so but I never took that apart.
When taking the dash apart realize that screws hide behind the vents and in other strange places. Dont force it if it doesnt come out easily.
I know that the bulbs on the buttons for air/defrost/cruise are replacable.

The bulbs for the heater control and a/c are located ON the circuit board behind the switches, the bulbs lock/thread into the board. They are Subaru specific, you will have to go to a dealership to get them, all you have to do is bring the old ones in and they should have replacements in stock. About removing the instrument cluster, do be careful, the clips break easy. Hope this helps, john k

ahh thanks alot guys! much help... ive taken the dash out... once.... and it is a paint... while im back there replacin a couple bulbs i wonder if they make blue.... i personally dont care for the green

I once saw a bag of blue "Condoms" for sale that was intended to convert the color of your light. Maybe you could use the same?
