Mud flaps for a 1990

Post by FundamentalyConfused »

Does anyone know if there's a molded mud flap for the 1990 models?

Would the 1995 stock molded flap be compatible enough to make it work?

Thanks for the reply evo.
Do you have a stock number or a company I can talk to about the 1990 model ones?

I bought mine at the dealer. I believe all the gen 1 cars were the same except one might have said, 'LEGACY' and the other, 'SUBARU'. I don't know, it was probably back in 1999 or so.

Man this is a tough nut for me to crack. I've looked in the 2 different legacy parts catalogs I have and there's not a single thing in there about a mud flap or a stone guard, the splash guard is in the catalog but that's the plastic in the wheel well.

I put in an email to one of the 30+miles away dealers. I'm not too hopeful on that but I figured it was worth a try.

Not a thing on the web that I can find yet about the stock ones but I'll keep looking.

The reaseon you can't find anything on mud flaps is because they are something that is typically installed at the dealer and is a dealer option. Those components are in separate catalogs. The chances of finding the mudflaps is probably going to be pretty difficult.

FWIW, mine were in a dealer catalog. There were pictures he showed me of them to pick them out. IIRC, there were 3 styles: "Subaru", "Legacy", and blank (perhaps also a simpler design that didn't hug the fenders). They were, like, $8. Since these cars are so old, you're best bet might be an old dealer who could still have some sitting on a shelf under a layer of dust.

So the dealer said they found the flaps but only the rears are order able cuz the fronts are obsolete.

Just a little something to keep in mind, the rears are different between wagon and sedan. 4D or SW are the markings to look for.
