Seat interchangeability?

Post by CreepyOldGuy »

I have found quite a few late 90's and early 2000's Legacy's and Outback's in the local self service wrecking yards in my area. I'm curious if seats from any of the later cars are interchangeable with our cars? I'm more interested in the front seats, but it would be nice to have a matching rear seat. My car is a 94' wagon.

I would bet that the fronts pretty much are. We just swapped front seats from our 03 WRX into our 94 wagon without issue.

For the fronts, I know the Imprezas will work all the way up to 07, also 95-99 Legacys will for sure fit. 05-newer Legacy will not, 3 out of 4 will bolt up but one will not without some customizing. I've never tried 00-04 Legacys but my buddy has a set of 01 LL Bean Outback seats in his 94 wagon, not sure if he had to do anything custom or not though. For the rears, 90-99 should all be pretty much the same, other than that I'm not to sure on any other rears that will just bolt right up.

I'm keeping my eyes open for a nice set that I can pickup for cheap. I will post the results here when I find something.
