WRX Subwoofer

Post by 94EJ22 »

I picked up a 2005 WRX sub woofer with the T-Harness for real cheap and was wondering if there is anyway to wire it up in my 94 LS. The connector is different from my stereo so I can't just plug it in. I'm new to car sub woofers and am not sure what to do. It is one that goes under the driver/passenger seats. Also, I have an Eclipse AVN2210P head unit. So is there anyway I can convert the sub to work with the original plugs, or can I convert the orignal wiring harness to the newer style?

The Sub woofer and T-Harness look like this:

you would have to first find a wiring diagram for the harness that came with the sub. is this a amplified unit? honestly its be easier to get an aftermarket setup and use your aftermarket deck. itll be better sound quality, louder, and much much less of a pain in the ass to install

I believe that this is the diagram:
Gray/Brown -- Chassis ground
Red/Brown -- +12 Volt, switched.
Violet/Brown -- Left Rear +
Orange/Brown -- Left Rear -
White/Brown -- Right Rear +
Black/Brown -- Right Rear -

It looks the same as this:

Also, it is the amplified one and I already bought it. I'd like to just wire it in somehow.

so run the gray/brown to a grounding point. run the red/brown to the battery with a fuse in between. the next part im not sure, someone can chime in, but i would merge the left/right positives with each other and the left and right negatives with each other. i would then splice those to rca plugs, one for positive and one for negative. those should be then plugged into the subwoofer rca outputs one the back of your deck. that would be for the aftermarket deck.

using the stock stereo still? why not just cut off the stock plug, install a 93-07 reverse plug. then you can use any newer stock deck & your T harness

I have an Eclipse AVN2210P head unit, I got rid of the stock one along while ago.

94EJ22, since I'm loath to cut wires when I don't have to, here's what I did.

One of these to let the sub plug in to my stock harness:

7+9 pin to 14-pin "Plug-and-play" Adapter — connect newer Subaru OEM radio into older Subaru)

then one of these for the aftermarket stereo:

14-pin forward Subaru wiring adapter ("forward" harness)

Bought them from this guy:

I'd love to find a second sub to double my bass ;)
