front bumper crack repair?

Post by killajamal »

I recently acquired a turbo front bumper that has a small crack. Anyone have any ideas or insight on repairing something like that?
The crack is up near the side by the blinkers. Is there an easy way to repair or work with plastic bumper material?

Plastic welder, and some stainless wire mesh is how I fix them. The repair is stronger than the original bumper and not very hard. I have a welder but most people live too far for me lend a hand.

I didn't know they made plastic welders. I will need to look into this.

Thanks for all the input guys! I just grabbed some two part epoxy and bondo. I'm in the process of filling everything and sanding in between full time work and finishing my schooling. But it'll work out!

Bondo will not work on plastic it will break off. There is a special type of filler for plastic,

This is pretty good stuff and it feathers good and it sticks.

You're definitely right! There are some small gouges throughout the bumper that I just slapped some bon do on. I'll look into getting some plastic filler. They didn't have any at the store earlier and I already had some bondo.

I watched a guy use a small torch and black zip ties (as the weld) and he made it work

I have a chance to pic up a "plastic stapler" that I might try out on a cracked bumper
