How the heck do I get these off. (stupid weather stripping)

Post by lucas »

How the heck do i get these stupid trim pieces off my stupid weather stripping is leaking, has been leaking for years now and I'm Finally tired of it. Ive looked at a parts diagram break down but I still don't understand where the mounting points are for these, and Id rather not rip them off.

I know the front pillar by the windshield just pull the rubber out of the channel and there are Phillips screws under there that holds it on. Also 3-4 plastic clips on the windshield side that you just pry up to pop them loose.

The same goes for the center piece but also might be nuts under the headliner (10mm) ( my wagon has 2 or 3)

The rear glass I'm not sure, I think there are plastic clips that pop straight up and might be screws under the rubber there also.

Yup, pull the weather stripping out and remove the screws.

Yes, around the body side it just pulls out of a channel.

There is a foam rubber seal that dries out that gets dried out against the body of the car attached to the molding. It leaks past that rubber instead of keeping the water in the Chanel. I put a little RTV on the rubber to seal mine because I was too lazy to buy new foam rubber and replace it all.

That's what I did, smeared RTV all up and down that thing. Hopefully that help. This was a part of another leaky sunroof repair, which I think is not attributed to the glass being rotten around the weather stripping. The car is from new jersey after all and spent a large part of its life in salty fist pump land. I do with people still did manual sunroof conversions, but the few shops around my house no longer offer such a service.

Thank you for the info! Weather and age has taken toll on those things, gonna pull them now and repaint them black!
