Wagon Rear Glass Moulding Removal/Instalation

Post by nosyt »

Hey guys I'm in the process of doing bodywork on my wagon and I attempted to remove the upper and lower moldings that run along the hatch glass. The top molding came off with no issues but the lower molding was quite stuck and ended up folding in half and creasing. I have ordered a new molding but was wonder what the proper removal/installation for this molding is so I can attach it properly. there doesn't seem to be any clips holding it in.

Is there a gap or lip that is part of the car/glass that the molding clips into?

there is a lip on the molding that wraps around the glass but I doubt this is entirely how its held on. I assume its meant to be held in with the adhesive from the glass as well. I got a new trim piece and will be inspecting it closer before I install it

So it looks like the rear lower glass molding is installed onto the glass before being installed onto the hatch.... still unsure how I'm going to get the molding on now but bringing it to a glass shop once its on the road this week,
