Just thought I would share, autozone sells a R12-R134a full conversion kit for $39.99, includes everything you need and it works AWESOME! I recently had to put in a new ac compressor and was forced to switch to R134, instead of spending hundreds of dollars at an ac shop, I did everything myself with this $39 kit. I read some threads on here about people doing a different conversion that costs a lot more, so just thought i'd share.
And the ac blows ICE COLD! I was very impressed...neat little kit and works awesome, can't go wrong especially for the price. So maybe this is one for the archives, anyone that hasn't yet considered converting, use this kit, very worth it!

Care to share what's in the kit, and what's involved.
I can tell you from doing my own AC work that most if not all "quick kit" type setups will eventually not work so well. There's really not much to converting an R12 system to R134a. You just flush it, replace the receiver drier, put new oil in, pull a vacuum, and charge the system with R134a to 75-80% of the original R12 capacity.

Ya the kit is pretty simple, but the point is I read some older threads that some people spent $120+ doing a different conversion. For $39 you can't go wrong...it includes 3 12oz cans of R134/stop leak/oil mixture, all needed fittings, the hose with the gauge, and even a neat 134a sticker.Legacy777 wrote:Care to share what's in the kit, and what's involved.
