Re: The Official Cheap Mods Thread
I would think the wiper arm spoiler is a cheap mod. I got the spoiler for five bucks and had everything else already so a five buck mod seems cheap eoungh.

Dang...I'd just as soon buy another set of junk headlights before doing that.
Too much for my tastes. Ebay knockoffs however

Re: The Official Cheap Mods Thread
Cheap mod I did was took and painted the Subaru logo on the axle nut cap on the turbo Legacys in black
First thing I did was I took some brake clean and clean off the cap. I had some black universal touch up paint from another one of my projects so this mod was free for me
Once you got the cap cleaned I took and use the touch up paint brush and fill in the Subaru name
The last thing you need to do is take some brake clean spray it onto a clean rag or paper towel and wipe off the excess paint it might take some time I recommend doing it shortly after you get done painting it and be very careful lol
Final product I thought for about 15 minutes of your time its a nice cheap mod that adds a little pop to the center of the rims
Well I hope you all enjoy my addition to the cheap mods list

Looks good I suggest taping off the top and bottom
and sides first. Less cleaning up.

Re: The Official Cheap Mods Thread
What about the cutting a hole into the stock air box below the filter to make more intake noise? That can be done for cheap if not free if you have the tools.

Sucks if you go through a lot of dust or water or
mud though.
mud though.
Re: The Official Cheap Mods Thread
I put the hole right behind the ABS unit and have driven through many puddles with no issues at all. I guess it all depends on the placement of it. I've seen some people on here put it directly underneath the airboxSWRT wrote:Sucks if you go through a lot of dust or water or

Re: The Official Cheap Mods Thread
That's probably one of the better spots for it since water
cant splash directly up into it. Do you have any clips of
the difference?

Re: The Official Cheap Mods Thread
My turbo wagon already has the holes in the bottom of the airbox and I can actually hear the tiny vf11 spooling. And when I did something similar to my sedan, it made it sound like there was just a cone filter under the hood, more noise. Only reason I know about the cone filter is my sedan had one on it when I first got the car, the cone filter didn't stay very long due to the power loss it caused.

Re: The Official Cheap Mods Thread
I had one on my RS. Wasn't impressed with the
power loss on the low end. After putting the torque
box back on that thing was kickin.
