Why are 06/07 wrx so expensive!?

Post by Chrisg03 »

so as any aspiring subaru enthusiast i also like an would like to own one or more decent wrx or maybe even an Sti but upon months of searching and researching i come to realize and notice a pattern..... Why the hell do people want "Sti Money" for 06 07 wrxs???? if you like the look so much you can just get the Sti variant for about the same price maybe a grand or 2 more im puzzleed...

I see them for right about 10-11 frequently enough, STIs for about 15-19. Maybe it depends on the area and demand.

Compared to earlier years, The 06 wrx sedan got aluminum control arms, 06-07s got the ej255 which is almost identical to an sti engine. AVCS. 4 pot/2pots. 550cc injectors, so you are a turbo and a road tune away from Sti power...

If I had to get a GD, it'd be an 05 sti, followed by an 06wrx sedan as they seem the best equipped for the money.

I would have to get an STI for the drivetrain personally. 6spd that isnt made of glass, 3 LSDs plus DCCD and stronger inverted struts? Yes please. I'd wind up swapping them to the WRX regardless, or forever pining for them.

From what I've seen the difference in cost between 06-07 WRX and STi models is around a few thousand for similar condition and mileage. This just about covers the difference between the 5MT and 6MT, so the rest is down to whether you like blue interior... ;)

I'd say the pricing is regional. If James in NC is seeing them for that price, I'll be shopping there next time I'm in the market. They sell for @ least 25% more here in the Great Subaru Northwest.

I'd get on ebay and see what you find....but there are a few caveats to buying on there, so BEWARE.
