Haynes and chilton are pretty good for engine rebuilding. You want performance than search this great forum and youll not come up empty handed.

The service manual lays it out pretty well if you are looking for things like torque specs and procedures.

On the performance side of things I don't really know if there's a good book about it. It's kind of the engine builders that learn through experience. Some share, some keep it to themselves. Maxwell power for example would let you come into the shop and show you how to assemble the block you bought from them yourself.

Again there is A LOT of info on here, stroker, hybrids, high compression builds. Maybe that's not what you are asking for?

I rebuild my engine with a Haynes manual and help from the good folks here at legacy central.
