Legacycentral BBS is going offline temporarily...

Post by DLC »

Our current hosting, which has been generously free for so long, is going away today. This means that the server that this site runs on will be moving to another location.

Due to the IP change, and 24-48 hours for DNS propogation, many of you won't be able to get to the BBS for a while.

Rest assured, this server is important to more people than just us, and its future is bright, so don't change that channel.

No problem Dave. I'm away for the weekend from tomorrow anyway. And may we say a big 'THANKS!' to whoever has generously hosted us for so long. Do we need to make some kind of donation for the new server space?

Yeah, I'm sure many of us would be willing to make small donations to help.

Do you think you could do that administrator-sends-email-to-all-members thing and let us know the new IP address when it happens? We should still be able to access it with the address even if DNS is giving us the wrong one.

At this time, the costs will be very low, so in the immediate future i have no plans to solicit donations to keep the board up.

Thanks for the support everyone.

vrg3: since this server will have one IP, and has a multitude of services, giving out the IP would probably cause more confusion than anything...

It actually came back a bit eariler than i'd expected, but we did learn of the move early on, updated our DNS records and got the box moved in last night. Some people will probably still be unable to resolve it.

Welcome back everyone...
