I've been meaning to do this for a while, but going through every page to fix any tears so I can run the pages through the scanner at work is rather time consuming. But it's done. I've scanned the entire Legacy Parts Catalog. It's about 64mb, and has all the part #'s you'll ever want

NOTE

The following information should help you decipher the information/dates in the comments section of the parts book.

4D - Four Door Sedan
SW - Station Wagon
TW - Touring Wagon

For the dates, the first number is the last digit of the manufacturing year. The second number is the month of manufacture. Since after September the month digit is no longer a single digit, the letters X, Y, Z correspond respectively to October, November, & December.

So for example, a date of 97, indicates a manufacture date of July 1989.

2X - October 1992
42 - February 1994
1Z - December 1991
04 - April 1990

There may be some other notes that do not follow this typical nomenclature, but for the most part, the above info should help you properly decipher the parts book.

Also, the introduction pages in the book are VERY comprehensive in explaining the various codes/remarks that appear in the parts book, including the how to read the dates. Take some time and look through the introduction. You will learn a lot!

I like looking at these older diagrams vs. the ones from the subaru electronic parts catalog.

Oh I agree 100%. The electronic catalogue sucks. Big time. The pictures are scanned poorly to begin with, but zooming in is like using MS Paint... it gets pixelated in a way and becomes HARDER to look at!

I frequently go dig out the books for the older stuff.

Are the hand written notes from you? Some numbers are changed, does that mean they were superseded?

The hand written notes are from the parts department who used the manual. I bought it from a dealership in the north east.

I will always put the part # in the online parts catalogs to check for any superceeded numbers.

There are some notes (build dates) & stuff that aren't exactly crystal clear, so read over the introduction, and if you have any questions, let me know.

When you d/l the file what program do you extract it to?

Windows should be able to unzip it. If that doesn't work, try Winzip.
You can view it with Adobe Reader.
