You may have noticed some downtime on the 2nd of March. We were in need of a big software update of the forum software, and the time was right. We had been running on a tweaked version of the same software for the last 7.5 years. The new version has been through some revisions and has improved in the recent releases.

Search will not work until sometime on the 3rd, as the entire index must be rebuilt.

Many smaller, but noticeable changes will also be rolled out in the near future. I'm not sure we've settled on a style, and we'll possibly add a third option, but will keep it simple for the sake of that principle.

I've noticed that the DVGFX2 style doesn't have a "view unread posts" link, which is puzzling.

I'm with Ciper, I love the rotating pictures as it really makes this place feel like home (nothing like hoping online on a Friday night and seeing all the familar names online too, it's like stepping into your favorite bar where everyone knows your name...).

But, I really like this new style. It's still easy to read, easy to navigate, and has the 'simple' look to it. You and Josh have done a GREAT job!!! Many, many thanks.

only suggestion i have on apperance... the paper icons (next to the thread) and the way they're colored coded for new/read/sticky. maybe a different icon and color scheme

Yeah I agree. And the background color for quotes isnt very pretty ^ really sticks out

I have to agree about the read/unread forum markers being too similar. It's VERY hard to tell which area has new posts.

Not really diggin the two-tone effect in the posts. At first I thought it was a seperate shade for the signatures as it appears to be when someone makes a short post but then I scrolled further down and saw some longer posts and that's not the case. I think it would look much better just the darker shade if that's possible. It just throws me off, never seen that before on a message board.

I have a question though. Does the rebuilding of the index search thing have anything to do with the missing "view posts since last visit" feature? I rely on that and I don't know if I can survive without it lol.

wheres the "read posts since last visit" option??

This style's template doesn't have the View New Posts option in the code, so I'll probably have to add it.

As for how to change the style, that's under User Control Panel.

I'm not sure if the search re-index completed last night. If not, then I'll get it going today.

Ok, it's under Board Preferences now. I'd had it set so that DVGFX2 was the only option.

Ok....found it. The subsilver is kind of weird. The user info is on the right. We'll likely have to play with the DVGFX2 style.

DGFX2 might not be the style for us. It's good, but too many things are missing or need to be tweaked. I'm proficient with many things behind the scenes, but editing templates isn't one of them.

Melankolia is something I'm testing right now, and it resolves many/most of the complaints aired thus far.
