I finally got my exhaust system in. stromung turbo back and hks headers.
first of all the hks headers are the most beautiful piece of steel. fitment was perfect even to the vishnu up pipe. the dual tip looks beautiful on the legacy. look of a dinan or remus on a bmw. sound is just awesome imho. not too loud. cruising at highway speeds no luder than stock.
oh and so much power. not the kind of improvement the autronic made. but still very noticeable. It is noticeably faster than my stage 0 wrx. and faster than my dad's s2000. I also mounted some gauges very clean. looks wonderful imho. let me know if any one would like to see pics.
I just thought I would share with you all. I feal as if I am finally getting somewhere. if only adam would get me my turbo.

sweet pics!
the exhaust looks nice and the header is purty! 8)

so, how is spoolup with the new exhaust?
I want to get an exhaust, but i can't decide on which one. i was thinking of getting a scoobysport turboback, but it is $1180. then i was thinking, a stromung turboback, but with a magnaflow muffler.
what do you think?

oh yeah, it just so happened that you have the three exact same gauges as me. egt, a/f and boost. i like where you put yours, could you explain how you did it?
i also want an Oil pressure gauge, so i think i will probably put the boost gauge on the a-pillar. my friend said he could make me a custom single pod.

keep up the good work on the car. :o

thanks aaron, the spool up is pretty much the same as it was before. it is hitting full boost at about 2800 and is now pulling much stronger to 5500 rpm. which before it ran out of steam by 4500. but I'm sure with a little tuning it will pull hard to 6500. the guages were just mounted in a piece of carbon fibre. after reading about the new 2.5 turbo I am thinking of changing my motor plans. damn subaru. I sure didn't see that one coming. thanks, kelley.

How does the autronic ECU create so much power? does it do things like advance the timing?

Thanks,

yes. it is a replacement ecu that is laptop programable.
I think the real question is why does subaru's strongest closed deck turbo engine produce only 160 hp. maybe the ecu. the way it is tuned from the factory.

The same reason it didn't come with an intercooler . . . subaru laziness at its finest!!
Subaru Engineer: Um, now that I've finished the closed-deck block version of the 2.2L let's just call it a day!!

what the hell were they thinkin when they put the ac line where they did.
but the ecu calibration is pretty pathetic. with the autronic and my engine bone stock running 4 psi of boost it felt noticeably stronger than with the stock ecu with boost set to 11.5 psi ( which then yields about 11 mpg).

I want one of these ECU's so baad. It's dissapointing that the Stock ECU is so crappy. The Autronics retail for somthing like 2000 US, right? If so I don't think my car e'll ever see one

Fuel Management is the most important part of a turbo vehicle. I've used the SDS units before and I like them ( www.sdsefi.com ) but I've been hearing great things about the Autronics too. Didn't know they were so cheap...
