Falken Ziex 512 195/65/14

Post by mTk »

Got these a few weeks ago. I like them a lot more than my old Goodyear viva 2s in 185/70/14

The grip a lot better, they are an 'ultra high performance all-season" tire.. probably just slightly better than all seasons

tread design is fairly aggresive, and from what little wet driving i have doen they handle well in the rain. All in all a good deal for $45 a tire

I've got the same tires on my 91SS but in the 205/50-16 size (on 6-spoke 2.5RS wheels). So far I am very happy with them. They are easily on par with the Ecsta ASXs on my 2.5RS and cost less.

FYI: My experience is dry/wet conditions only. We've only gotten a very small amount of snow this winter and every time we do, my Legacy is incapacitated for some reason or another (vacuum leak, last time; starter, the time before), so I can't give any info on snow traction. It does better than my 2.5RS in the muddy driveway, but I think that's more the diffs (5MT 2.5RS is viscous center and open rear) than the tires. However, the tread pattern on the 512s does look more "aggressive" than the ASX, so it should be better for mud/snow type conditions.

Falken Ziex 512 on my Impreza and Legacy. I think they are a great choice for all seasons- good balance of performance and cost. Wet, dry, snow-- all is good. Sears has them at fair price. Sure, they can be had cheaper online, but for convenience, I get them at Sears (1/2 mile from my house). I'm also running the 205/50/16 size.
