Permatex Headlight Lens Restoration Kit

Post by BSOD2600 »

What better else to do on a typical overcast Seattle day? Headlight restoration! Went to the local Smucks and bought Permatex Headlight Lens Restoration Kit

The kit is straight forward. Comes with 1000, 1500, 2000, and 2500 grit wet sand paper. After you've been through them all, then there is a bottle of polish. Took me 1hr to do them both.

After going through all the sand papers, lens still isn't clear but no more yellow.

Add on the polish and it clears right up.

Half way done...

Done!

Now time will tell how long it lasts till it fades again. Have yet to drive at night to see if there is any noticable improvement.

Looks much better.

I don't think you'll notice any improvement. I didn't when I did mine.

Your car is red?! I know your TW was white, so this just comes as a shock to me for some reason. Haha.

I must agree with Nick's comment, but I can definitely understand why you went with the MUCH less expensive, temporary route. They look great!

Indeed. They looked great on his SS back in the day...

Yea, having glass would be nice, but I've got other more important $$ purchases to be made on the car first.

Why yes, I am! Fresh off the turnip truck! :-D

Otherwise, I did do a search but many, many topics came up that didn't appear to have much to do with headlights. The phpBB search is awesome!

Then I searched the interwebs for glass headlights, and most sites didn't seem to specify if the headlights were glass or plastic.

I was going back out on Sunday to get lunch, and my neighbor asked me about the Subaru. I walked over and started chatting about it, and looked over and saw that I really need tires! The right rear is flat! :?
