Mishimoto Radiator Dual Core

I ordered from a vendor who shipped very quickly. The unit was packed in a super thick padding of recycled cardboard supports at the top bottom and sides. It was sealed in plastic and capped at the flow nozzles. After getting it out I added the OE rubber mounts (it does not come with the supporting hardware) and dropped it in place easily. All factory connections mated up perfectly. The only issue I could see was with the top brackets were pushed up just a bit do to the increased width of the unit. I bent them just a little and all was well. This unit does come with a aluminum plug at the top with an o-ring. I was very excited about that as it will make bleeding the air from the system so much easier. It also comes with a magnetic drain plug with o-ring in the factory location. My package was missing this plug so I contacted the vendor who had a Mishimoto rep send me replacement. Im not sure if it really needed to be magnetic but but the magnet is a steel insert that extends from the threaded portion to nearly an inch inside of the end tank. Adding the factory fans was a bit tricky. I recommend doing this after you install the unit as the thicker dimensions of the radiator actually put the fan shroud about a quarter inch from the power steering pulley. The fans and hardware bolted up easily. Reattaching the plugs may be easier from the bottom as again this unit pushes the fans much closer to the block and pulleys. I actually had to pull the overflow tank to get access to the drivers side plug from the top.

So, the bottom line. This thing looks amazing and runs very very efficiently. My fans hardly ever come on. I can pull off the highway and swing through a drive through and they may kick on just as Im pulling back onto the road. I dont do a lot of stop and go but I still notice the difference.

Got any pics you could share?

As for the magnetic drain plug, it's not necessary since the entire engine cooling system should be pretty much aluminum. The impeller on the water pump is about the only thing I can think of that wouldn't be.

Wish the price had stayed the same... Looks great, I just hope the leak issues have been resolved.

I'm pretty much just waiting for my endtanks to start leaking. There's not an aluminum radiator for the 2nd gen as far as I know but I figure one of them has got to be close enough to work, either from the 1st gen or an impreza of some sort.

Also, if someone is looking to get one of these let me know.

Jamal, if it helps I dont have my AC installed anymore. That may be a factor in clearing the space facing the bumper beam?
