What are your 1/4 mile times?

Post by legacymax »

what are people running in the quarter mile? What you guys down at sea level are running?

Track: Bandimere Speedway about 5600 ft
My Car: SS auto, 4.44 gears, 3 inch hks DP with one high flow cat in midpipe, de-snorked, spare tire still in, up on the converter= 16.6 at 82(mph?) Since then i have a torque chip and will have my Saab 900 installed before the next race. stock boost at 10 psi.

Question: for the 1/4 mile should i run my WRXwheels/re92s or stock 94 SS wheels or does make a difference?

Tranny swap prolly, with the wrx wheels your car will accel slower, so i would run w/ the stock wheels (and tires for both).

I just bought the car about 6 months ago and it already had the 4.44 gears in it. I asked the previous owner and he said they are out of a late model Outback. The rear dif is late model and my speedometer is way off so right now i guess i'll believe him. The transmission is an older one because it has the black bolts holding the valve body up and they changed to all gold color bolts in 95. I put a transgo shift kit in it today and and when i took off the pan there was quite a bit of metal at the bottom so it will probably need a overhaul soon. Then i will see for sure. :?

16.6@82 is pretty good for Bandi. what was the temp?

My '98 Legacy 2.5GT ran a best of 16.8@82, and that was with full header/cat/exh./ intake/ pulleys and launching as well as the clutch would allow (5spd obviously)

The GT's gone now, but I will be picking up a turbo Leg before spring (hopefully). I am looking for a 5spd, but the auto's are soooo abundant (in comparison) and cheaper.... so we'll see.

I like seeing an auto pull 16.6ET's up here - that gives me some hope :) I really would like a mid 15sec car out of it so the auto *might* just work.... hell, your probably just a TC job away from 16flat now.

You going to race in the Import Drags on 9/18 (or whenever it is)?

I started at a 16.6 @ 79 with my stock 1990 NA.

Switched to an 80 shot nitrous and pulled a single 14.967 at 91. Most runs were 15.2.

Switched to 55 shot of nitrous and supercharger and pulled multiple 14.8-15.0 second runs at 92-93 mph.

Supercharger alone is only 16.4 but is not working properly yet.

I HEARD that there is a company called Knight Motorsports that sells kevlar clutch packs and paddle shifters for the 4EAT. Probably pretty expensive. I will think about that this winter when i am working on my engine. I am trying to get my Turbo XS high Performance MBC to work right and put a Saab 900 IC on this weekend before high School Drags. I will be in Moab during Import Mayhem. The temp was a blistering 67 degrees. :)

Azn, remember if you are truly at Salt Lake City, you are way higher than I am to start with. That makes a big difference to start with. Then again, I was running as HARD as I could on a brand new clutch and I am a damn fast shifter. My wagon driven by the average Joe woould problably only pull a 17.2 when I would pull a 16.8. At 500 elevation (or whatever PIR is)

I finally have the SC installed again with new pistons and the new rrfpr and cant wait to see how it runs by itself. Probalby like a stock ss or better I hope.

Sorry for the late post. Azn2nr, the elevation makes a pretty big difference. Suppose to be around a second or more for Bandi(varies). The 4EAT can be a great drag tranny if built right. Look at EasyStreet. The shift kit helped a lot, the cooler helps on the canyon runs with keeping the shift points solid, and the external filter helps too. I will post the rpms later because of the speedo being off, i have to pull out my GPS to get the correct speed.

damn, I'm dissapointed now. I just ran a 16.8 at 82mph at Lebanon Valley last night. Clutch is slipping horribly so I wasn't able to stay WOT the whole time. Still thought it was going to be a tad faster. This is on a 90 N/A wagon that I strapped a Toyota turbo and IC on. running about 5psi.

I've got to get the clutch thing sorted out, then I'll try to make a pass again and see what it can do.

SDS = ?

Thats almost "Bullshit" terrirtory with only 11 psi! Thats freaking insane for that low of PSI! But that means I can dream!

SDS is the engine management i'm using. It's a pretty simple yet effective stand-alone ( www.sdsefi.com )

I've run a wideband for a month and fine-tuned the fuel / timing maps quite well. That may explain the times.

I barely consider SDS to be engine management. More like a box with a hampster inside that turns your injectors and coils on and off. All the same your time was a lot lower than mine...

Until reading this thread I was quite disappointed... Ran a 15.43. I'll have to dig up the MPH. Running 10 PSI, stock turbo, starion FMIC, 4.44 gears 2.5" exhaust and OEM management. I'll do up an ECU for myself soon.
