Quickest BC Legacy (1/4 mile) the US?

Post by BXSS »

What is the quickest 1/4 mile time recorded on a BC leggy in the US?

I think the quickest claim I have seen is Douglas Vincents' twin-charged Red wagon @ mid-high 12's.

Anyone heard of or saw something quicker?

Looks like the Twin-charged wagon is possibly one of the quickest if not the quickest BC Legacy in the US.

HP - 1/4mile calculators do not count, as there is more to good times than HP.

Our 9.97 second Budget car was stuck @ 11.31/124MPH (12psi) & according to the calculators we had the power to run 10.99 @ 10psi, but increasing boost just led to more wheelspin & slower times.

Changing Final drive gear ratios dropped times from 11.31 - 10.4 both @ 124 MPH everything else down to the program in the ECU was the same.

I know I am not the fastest BC in the US, but until someone has proof, I claim it! haha.

There is a 2.0 1992 Liberty RS in Australia that did a 10.9 @ 127 last year....

I keep trying to get some fast older legacies out to the strip but they always pass....

BXSS, did you run a higher (lower numerically) ratio to reduce wheelspin? I know what the numbers are telling me for the vehicle I'm designing, but am wondering about the ratios I'll end up with (2.0 S2000 with 2.83 or 3.09 FD). I have about half the weight of the donor car, but a much higher ratio, but also only 1 wheel to put it down with. I'm thinking it will all work out (absolute worse case of 6.5 lbs/hp), but first is still pretty high and I need a largish wheel for ground clearance and visual balance.

Yes the FD# was lower.
Are you doing a S2000 - AE86 swap or something crazy?

The car I was talking about is an OLD School PR Drag car, that weighs 2001lbs (Lighter is better). The gear ratio was made taller (smaller #) & with that change the car was able to run 1+ seconds quicker.

The power to weight ratio is about 4.7-5.0#/HP.

All is not done yet as I feel we may need bigger tires or a taller gear ratio to max the current set-up out - 60's @ 15PSI = 1.3x, but 60' @ 20psi = 1.5x (there is some slip on high power launches).

Here is the car

The Leggy from NZ does not count as it is not in the US & is not a BC (if it is the green one I'm thinking about) - TRP's gold BC runs 10's, but is in Australia.
