Back into rallying this year! Ok it's not the Legacy

Post by rally370 »

After a 2010 rebuild I'm out rallying again in Costa Rica. New engine/Transmission/LSD plus tons of other stuff. I'm still running the un-breakable 04 STI front struts and Legacy front control bushes for engine mounts!

Came 3rd in the 1.6L class.

No one of those Suzuki Swift 1300L GTI things. Handles and goes well but nothing as good as a Subie. I took this route because the cars are cheap. 100% tax in Costa Rica. So a 1998 GT turbo Impreza costs around $20,000

I sold my 83 Range Rover for $4700!

check out http://www.crautos.com for some whacky prices.

Yeah I saw a really badass one for sale that was totally set up for road racing. Everything done to it and the seller included a video of him destroying all kinds of cars on the road course. It was fast. Wish my subaru weighed less.

Yeah they're nearly identical and use all the same parts except the metro never got a GTI engine or AWD. Not just the metro and swift but pontiac firefly, chevy sprint, chevy metro, geo metro, suzuki swift, suzuki cultus...

OMG! Jealous.... That picture is totally awesome. Hi Def sliding in the dirt plus it looks like its about to rain cats and dogs. Great pic of the car and interesting backround. What other cars run in that class?

The photo is amazing as the day was hot and sunny. Those clouds were white...well as far as I remember. The Metro/Swifts get quite a following. The Metro/Swift has performance versions, the 3 cylinder turbo and the Swift got the 1.3L DOHC all steel 7000rpm 100bhp motor. A bit gutless but good when wound up. The car weighs around 1900lbs in rally trim. I did some up-grades to boost the power to around 115BHP. With this power and weight the swift GTI seems as fast as the N/A Legacy to about 60mph but then the Legacy has the grunt. The Legacy is very strong whereas the Swift is in need of some strengthening.

Classes in CR are N3 (2.0) N2(1.6) N1 (1.4) and N4( Turbo AWD) Seeing as I'm the only N1 car I run in the N2 class which I like as we beat them. Actually I use this car as my daily driver in CR. I drive to the events, do my own service. Kick their ass...hahahah and hopefully drive home. I did the same with the Legacy. Makes the event more of a challenge....hahahaha
