Although, for the top mount cooler crowd, I think it's already a squeeze
between the firewall and the throttle body.

One possible slick trick learned on a manifold I got from from Paul Eklund is
to shave the manifold surface that mates to the throttle body for a little
extra TB to firewall clearance.

That head port interchange question is a good one. I think it will need a
direct visual comparison because different port spacing can result in
different part numbers, but the shape can be identical, permitting phenolic
interchangeability.
