turbo and intercooler...

Post by subaruracer755@cs.com »

just some FYis... the 93-96 WRX intercooler is MUCH easier to install with an upgraded turbo to go with it... the stock one has a different size outlet and angle.... its very mickey mouse when i did mine with the stock turbo... leaked sometimes too... when i went to the TD-04 heres what i moved/changed:
-ignitor on dogbone
-watertank to front of car
-moved three wireharnesses at throttlebody out of way of turbo
-cut off water bosses on TB
-moved down wireharness and AC line on firewall
-switched around all bung connections on the 90deg boot leading to turbo

Does moving down the AC line require a discharge of R-12 Freon?

first part...

moving the ac line down dosent mean you have to break/cut it.. i just took the mounting clamp, turned it 180deg, and remounted it on the dogbone...

2nd part... the IC is MADE crooked.. not meant to be parrallel with the engine, its made to sit at an angle.. not square.. find a pic of a 1st gen impreza engine bay, its crooked.. the reason it is crooked is so it does not block the clutch resivoir... the new age IC is larger so i did not know if it would fit without blocking neccassary parts... thats why i have this one....
