Performance Spark Plugs

Post by my93liberty »

Hey everyone,
I've got a 93' Non-Turbo liberty EJ22, and it's up for a service and
was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for performance
spark plugs..
Like the Spitfires, NGK Iridium sparkies and the such...
Not lookin' to add any coil upgrades or anything, just simple
plug-n-go units....
What runs well in these Suby engines..??

Thanx...
Daniel...

NGK's work the best in subie motors. The standard, plain old copper
ngk's.

Iridium's main advantage is they last longer.....but the EJ22 motor is
easy to change plugs....so I'd probably just stick with the coppers.

So they don't help to burn better and give better fuel economy or
any of that...??

In my opinion......no.

bottom line is....all a spark plug is there to do is ignite a volitile a/f mixture. It has a pretty simple job.....but yes depending on how the plug is oriented and stuff like that, can affect fuel economy and mileage.

From personal experience I have found that the standard copper NGK plugs work the best in my motor.....other subaru enthusiasts have said the same thing. Some of the newer 2.5's say to use NGK platinums......but again....that's for longevity.

I agree with using the NGK. They are the OEM plug.

Im not sure what type of car enthusiast you are, but if your like me you
believe your car has its own personality or mood. My legacy had bosch plugs
when I got it and it was very happy to get NGK's even though the old ones
werent worn.

Is that technical enough for you ;)
