How did you know it's the no. 2 cyl?

How did the plug look when you pulled it?

Other things it possibly could be is coil pack or ignitor.....however
since these ignition systems are wasted spark, you would have a miss or
something similar on the opposite cylinder.

What about a sticking valve......?

Thanks for your help Josh. I tried to respond once but i don't think
i did it correctly. if this is the second time just delete.
With the car idling I pulled each wire off until i found the problem
cylinder. The plug looked a little carboned but not wet.
if I had a valve hanging would i hear a lifter noise?
I was wondering if maybe something to do w/injection to that cylinder.
What do you think. I appreciate your help. My legacy has 190,000miles
on it but I wasn't ready to shop for another yet.

When you pulled that plug off.....did the car run any worse? How much
of a difference was there in how smooth or well it ran?

Did you try resting the plug on the block and seeing how much spark was
coming from that plug?

Did you actually replace the plugs & wires, or just visually inspect
them?

I'd probably say it would be a spark plug, wires, or possibly
injector.......let me know a little more about your diag steps.

wires. no i did nt rest the plug on the block as i removed the wire i

Ok,

Next I would try pulling the connector for that cylinder's injector.
See if things change or not. If you're sure the plug is working. It's
possible the injector is messed up.

Do you have a CEL? Have you tried pulling the codes? You can read how
to do that on my site www.surrealmirage.com/subaru under notes & tips,
engine related.

Measure the resistance on the injector terminals. It should be 11-12
ohms

resistance I'll check tomorrow on that. i'll let you no tomorrow
evening what i find
thanks again

I agree with Josh, if you pulled the plug and you had spark and the plug cam
out dry it sounds like you not getting any gas to the cylinder. I have a set
of used injectors from a 91 Legacy LS if you are interested. Around 120,000
miles on them, car ran fine but had a blown tranny and was scrapped for
parts. Is you car an auto or manual (injectors are different between the
two? Email me off list if your interested. John k
