ok In the process of trying to figure out the ratio of my new legacy TT trannie I looked in the haynes manual, they said the trannie serial number is on the bell housing above the starter. I looked there and 110564 was the number. also below that there was a part number but some letters missing. heres what i got 9R- ?TY75 ???CAA (the last questionmark looked like a B or an R)

can you aussie, NZ, or japanese experts tell me what i have so i can get the matching rear diff?

we turned the wheels and watched the drive shaft, but we still arent sure of the ratio, 4:11 or 4:44.

please help, im going through soobie withdrawl!

mike

It should be 4.11 if its from a TT. You can just take out the drain plug and
count the crown wheel teeth thru the drain hole. The hole is positioned so
you can set up the diff gears and check the gear mesh using bearing blue
without having to split the case again, Subaru think of everything.

Cheers. Al.

TY752VBCAA 3.166 1.882 1.296 0.972 0.738 4.444 BD5B RS
BD5C RS
BG5B GT-B
BG5C GT-B
GC8D WRX/WRX-STi
GC8E WRX/WRX-STi 280ps

This is your tranny and the models it came in and the HP it was rated for. Ratios are 1 to 5th plus final drive.

The Earlier trannies 1994 - 1996ish were 4.11, the later ones on the
B4 etc were 4.4. The easiest way would be to open the case and count
the gears on the front diff and main shaft.

The Earlier trannies 1994 - 1997ish were 4.11.

The later ones eg some GTB and the RSK etc were 4.4.
