I replaced the struts on my 92 legacy L sedan with KYB
GR2's. Now the front rides about an inch higher than
the rear. Does anyone have a explanation or a solution?

You sure you got the right struts for the rear?

Is your car AWD or FWD?

Do you have the part numbers for the struts?

they should be the right struts, I've checked the part
numbers multiple times. It's a 92 AWD. just from
comparing the new and old struts i figured the front
end would ride a little higher than it used to. The
spring is mounted a bit higher on the new kybs then it
was on the old monroes that were on there. Not sure
who put those monroes on there but they were both left
struts. I have yet to see another legacy with it's
front end as high as mine. I'd say there is a good 3
- 3.5 inches between the tire and the highest point of
the fender. I've been thinking maybe there is
something funny about those springs on the front -
could someone have replaced the whole front strut
assembly with one that included a longer spring? the
rear really looks pretty normal - a bit lower than
before but i've seen a lot of legacys that ride that
low. I think the old rear struts were the original
kybs. I like it riding high like the front end, so
I've been trying to come up with a way to make the
rear ride higher. I don't think coil spring spacers
are appropriate, I'm considering buying new springs or
having the old ones restretched. I appreciate any
suggestions you can offer.

If you're positive the struts are the correct struts front & rear, then
I would look at the springs.

I probably wouldn't try restretching the springs. I would either get
new ones, or possibly find a used complete spring/strut combo at a
junkyard for cheap and use those springs instead.
