My previous post didn't seem to go through so I am posting this again.

I had recently seen a cracked Borla Header @ JC Sports. It was installed on
a NA Impreza (2.2). Within 2 months after installing the header, the area
where the manufacturer heat treated the pipe to get a smooth bend cracked in
half.

Also, JC has tested the header on a TC car and got a power loss. Increase
in volume & decrease in flow rate (Borla header Vs stock) is not a good
design for the use with a turbine.

Has anyone else seen anything like this from Borla?

Shariff, I haven't seen any personally, but I have heard the same of a few
cracked borlas.

As far as no better performance on the turbo cars, I know there was a test
in Austrailia on the EJ20 with a few different headers and none compared to
the stock ones in terms of performance. They looked nice though ;-)

This almost doesn't surprise me, as bigger is not usually better.

I know that Justin Brande installed the header and x-member from a
WRX on his 9x Turbo and noticed that it helped. It's probably
because of the flow characteristics of the Subaru part and the fact
that Subaru made the part for a hi-power motor that it works. It was
a drive-test but he still seemed to think it was better. Maybe i'll
do the same.

In other news, i should be getting a stainless downpipe soon
from Brian and i'm sure it'll make things a little sweeter.

I saw the Euro spec header and they did look a little better then ours. I
saw Byron's header and that too looked much better (equal length), but it
was pricey. Option2 did a few tests on the EJ20 in Japan with CUSCO, SYMS,
Greddy (I think) and others and found increases in the mid range for most.
But at $1500++, I don't really think its worth it.
