Sourcing Subaru connector pins

Post by macipusy »

I am trying to find a place where I can source new electrical pins which fit stock Subaru connectors.

I am building a wiring harness from scratch and instead of splicing wires I want to connect the wires directly to connectors.

I know there is a range of pin sizes....injector connectors vs engine harness plug pins. I want to be able to source all the different sizes.

Has anybody ever found these?

I'd really like to find a source for all these little pins too. That RS website ^ has lots of stuff to make your own, but I couldn't find subaru automotive pins.

I couldn't find them either......there has to be a place to get these.

I want to start building custom harnesses for standalones using all subaru clips for sensors and actuators. If I can find these I can start helping people wire thier Legacys with all new electronics and now splicing crap into 20 year old wiring.

I first need to do it on my own vehicle for R&D.

If you can find a bosch dealer they may be able to help. I have got bosch auto-electrical pins before that fit japanese plugs. Take an old pin or socket with you.

I just went by my dealer today and asked, he brought out a big case full of them. It wasn't a Subaru part numbering system, but their invoice was sitting in the case so I snuck a look. They get them from SPX Kent-Moore.

edit; what I thought were just pins were something else, so it's just these in many sizes:

Sweet....thanks for the info. I will look further into the SPX Kent-Moore and see what I can dig up.

From the pics, it looks like they sell the pig tail version of the connectors....hopefully I can find just the pins to avoid splicing different color wires together.

Just to build out this thread a bit, looks like the Subaru dealer service kit is still available from Bosch/Kent-Moore as item J-47606. This kit has all of the Subaru specific RK-TFA-xxx terminals with short pigtails already crimped. Seems like most dealers will have this kit and may be willing to sell the replacement pigtails or at least allow you to ID the terminal type so that you can buy the terminals directly from Bosch which now owns the Kent-Moore automotive business.

Or, you can go to the junkyards and harvest wiring connectors from the interior harness connectors. I've noticed that the pin types are similar between the engine sensor harnesses and some of the interior connectors like the super multiple junction for example.
