Seemingly simple question

Post by Danny-G »

I,ve been wondering if swapping a wagon ecu with my sedan ecu will get the little bar on the dash to light up with the trunk open, like it does on the wagon when the gate is open

Sorry, it won't work. The door switches/dome lights/indicator lights for the doors don't interface with the ECU.

I don't think so. I took a quick look at the wiring diagram for a 1990, the door switches do not feed into the ecu. You will need some sorta switch and some custom wiring to get that lil light to work.

EDIT opps i didn't refresh.... sorry SLODRIVE for the double answer

Well dang...I guess its time to get the wiring from a wagon and see if I can make it work some how. Unless anyone has an idea of how to get it to work.

Do you even have that light on the dash?

If so it should be a fairly easy job, just wire that light to the trunk light.

Its in the cluster but doesnt function due to having a sedan. And tapping into the trunk light is a really good idea, I don't know why I did'nt think of that.

You should look over the wiring diagrams between the wagon and sedan... have fun wiring it all. Not going to be easy or worth it, IMO.

The clusters are different between wagons & sedans I believe and don't have the light. If you have a wagon cluster in a sedan, you could probably wire things up so the trunk causes the light to go off.
