engine management question N/A legacy going turbo

Post by turbo4life »

hi i have a 1991 sedan came without turbo from factory, im installing turbo on it now wondering what is a cheap easy way of managing this??

mega squirt sound like too much to wire up and get going (ive installed a msPNP on 91 turbo mazda miata for a friend)

legacy ss ecu?? rare and hard to find..

i have a SDS efi eic (extra injector controller) laying around from a honda turbo project years ago..

but i wanna do it right were i get more fuel under boost and timing control under boost. just like it should be!

any thoughts, ideas be great! thanks

use the factory turbo ecu. they are easy to find and dont require too many wiring changes to use.

I did this to my NA legacy, it will run ok on boost with a RRFPR, but wont be smooth and will be way too rich, it runs

I got a leg turbo ecu at u pull and pay for 39.99
all the boost sensors (map, wastegatecontrol, etc) 30.00
turbo maf 39.00
turbo injectors 40.00

you run your own wires for the etc turbo sensors to the ecu, you have to put a few extra pins in. easy if you cut off some harness plugs at u pull and pay

swap the cam and crank sensor pins at the ecu

runs like a stock subaru should. smooth, starts right up reliable etc....

just find a turbo ecu its way easy to add to your car, and way way worth it, all the info is on this board

looks like turbo ecu it is! only what size injectors dose the turbo use? can i just de-cap my stock injectors by grinding off the flow restrictor caps on the ends of the injectors?

The stock injectors on the turbo are 370 cc/min. I would not recommend modifying the n/a injectors. You should be able to pick up the stock turbo injectors relatively easy. You'll also need the fuel rails for the turbo injectors.

Your best bet is posting in the parts shed. There are areas where there are more turbo legacies floating around and people tend to hoard parts for them too :)
