Ej22t swap into 93 NA legacy with Rob tune wiring

I have found this information scattered on many Different threads but not all in one place for my kind of swap. I am swapping a ej22t into a 93 legacy wagon NA 5 speed with a Rob tune ecu. There are wiring projects to do for the turbo swap into NA car, Rob tune ecu, and 4 to 2 ignition. Most everything about each separate wiring project was covered in other theads but there are Some of questions I still have after comparing the ej22 wiring to the ej20g wiring. I will list everything I've found plus the questions that arose while doing the research.

ej22t into 93 legacy NA-

B56.1 crank + switch with B58.4 cam +
B56.2 crank - switch with B58.5 cam -
Wire in MAP to B48.3 power, B48.4 signal, B48.5 ground, B48.18 shield
Wire in Wastegate to F47.3
Wire in pressure exchange solenoid to F47.20
The barometric pressure sensor that was inside of the NA ecu is now a part of the MAP sensor.
Use the NA intake wiring harness and move the wires for coolant temperature sensors

Rob tune ecu-

De-pin F47.6 purge control
De-pin B56.11 California pin
De-pin B48.5 MAP ground and merge with B48.21
Ignore the absent wires on F47.4, F47.16 and B48.12

The questions I have:
1- B58.6 cam shield, there is no connection there in the ej20g. Do I merge this with a different shield wire?
2- B58.8 maf pin 5, there is no connection there in the ej20g. Is that a problem?
3- B58.9 neutral switch, There is no connection there in the ej20g. Is that a problem?
4- B56.15 and F47.18 select monitor, there is no connection there in the ej20g. Is that a problem?
5- did I miss anything else involved with my swap?

Thanks,
Derek

1. no
2. no
3. no
4. no

my old car had the same setup, i never even de pinned the wires the 20g ecu didnt need, however i did merge the map ground. you have all the steps covered, if you do them correctly your car should run just fine.

The above wiring should just be:

Swap B56.1 crank + switch with B58.4 cam +

You don't need to swap the negative leads for the cam & crank sensors

The 92 liberty FSM that I have shows the cam shield being run to that same pin. Did you read something specifically that says there isn't anything at that pin?

Yes on the wiring diagrams for the ej22 NA motor it has the cam shield entering the ecu at B58.6 and on the ej20g there is no connection at that pinout.

Ok, good deal.

if you want to clean things up under the hood you can put the map sensor and pressure exchange solinoid under the dash near the ecu. if you are gonna use a manual boost controller you can leave the BCS out of the equation, the car i just did didnt throw a CEL when i left it out. if it did come on, a resistor should take care of it.

Bump from the dead. Didn't wanna start a new thread to avoid cluttering the forum. Can anyone shed any light on which color of wire should be sent to the ecu on the wastegate and pes? Obviously one needs a switched power source and the other wire goes to the ecu but I'm curious if anyone knows which color of wire goes where? Going from NA to ej22t with a robtune and have been searching for these answers for a while now to no avail. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Are you looking for the stock wiring color?

The switched power wire is yellow with a red stripe for both.
For the PES the wire going to the ECU is green with a yellow stripe.
For the wastegate solenoid the wire going to the ECU is Black with a white stripe.

This information is in the wiring diagrams (page 302 of 336) of the 92 engine & wiring service manual on my server. Page 281 of 336 has the wire color code table.

What am I missing about the wire color? Is there a reason other than 'OEM'?

I did this swap years back (thanks to this site - and Josh!). I bought a 6-foot section of bulk wire harness from Home Depot that had 6 individual wires in it (had to make two runs, IIRC). Ran those for the turbo's 3 sensors on the passenger's strut tower to the ECU.

Although not part of the stock loom, they worked as intended for the Stock EJ22T ECU>>Revtronix>>RobTune upgrades I did.

Just curious.

Not sure I understand the question?

Hi Josh,
Why does the wire's COLOR matter?

It doesn't unless you have OEM wire colors in the car or are trying to maintain the OEM wire color scheme.
