Radio and wiper interference

Post by Chrisg03 »

So whenever i have my stereo on and i need to use my windscreen wipers the radio sort of cuts out and loses lots of volume...is this normal? it happend before and i replaced the wiper electric sxitch that goes on the steering column and it was gone for a little while then it returned is it possible that i just acquired another shorted unit ..is it the stereo or could it possibly be my alternator that can no longer keep up with a normal load? Im out of my hometown and i dont have the proper tools to perform a proper electrical diagnosis hlep please...

I would suspect a ground issue. You will need a multimeter to check various factory ground points and the ground for the stereo & wipers.

It's possible the switch may be bad, but I'd lean more towards a ground issue.
