SBF-1 & SBF-2 Schematic Clarification

Post by Soobster »

I'm looking at the main power supply routing schematic shown on the 92 FSM, Section 6-3, Page 14 and wondering if the SBF-1 and SBF-2 fuses were duplicated on this schematic. Perhaps I'm confused on the difference between the "SBF Holder" which shows a 45A fuse out to SBF-1 and a 30A fuse out to SBF-2 and then the two 30A fuses labeled SBF-1 and SBF-2 drawn within the main fuse box. Are these fuses in series?

I'm reworking the Subaru schematic for my Vanagon engine swap and just wanting to see if I'm understanding this portion of the schematic.

Nothing has been duplicated. There is an SBF-1 and a SBF-2.

For the "SBF Holder" those lines go out to other devices/connections. For whatever reason the 92 manual doesn't have that list. The 90 FSM has that list and lists the ABS hydraulic unit for SBF-1 from the SBF holder and air suspension for SBF-2. You can download the 90 wiring diagrams which show that table using the link below.

Perfect. Didn't think anyone was going to respond to this nerdy of a question there for a while.

What is the long time melting ampacity for the fusible link? Looks like the fusible link protects the alternator and alternator wiring from battery through-faults in case of a stator winding short. I'm thinking about reusing the engine compartment fuse box, but it may be easier for me to go with a small industrial enclosure and some touch safe fuses if I can find fuses with equivalent ratings.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure about the melting time for the fusible links.
