Welcome to the BBS.

As mentioned, I would recommend running the stock BPV or the WRX BPV. The BOV's can let metered air by which affects the air fuel ratio and the overall running of the engine.

The only purpose of a BOV is to make that noise that people who arent real car people cant get enough of. Sure, it sounds cool, a couple of times maybe, but its a negative thing to have in any car. Even stage 3 STi's arent pushing enough air for it to make sense and they can be tuned for that. So our cars definitely werent designed for something to purge all of the air out of the system, which causes the engine to bog in between shifts due to running rich because you let all of the air out of the system and the injectors dont know to reduce the fuel rate. Essentially making your car slower, less reliable and more annoying. Even Ken Blocks rally car with its 600 WHP engine doesnt utilize a full atmospher BOV. Why? Because crawford performance, the people who build his engine wont put it on because of all of the above mentioned side effects. All show... no go...

That being said, you can use the stock WRX BPV in our cars. It just takes some clever ducting to get the recirc line back to the intake. Im sure there are pictures of it on here. I did for a little bit, but it looks sloppy and was hitting my throttle cable...

Post up pictures if you get it together

The the only pic I had is on the first page, it's when I first did it. It looks like crap there but I scraped off all the extra RTV and that foil is gone. It's functional, dunno if there is any benefit other than it's metal, and bigger. Either way, still works and i'm happy with it. Still haven't done the TD04.

robertl, not meaning to threadjack but I feel this is an appropriate thread to ask my question. If I'm out of line I apologize in advance. I've searched the TD04 and TMIC writeups but haven't found an answer.

I am also going to install a TD04 and TMIC. MY TMIC is from a Forester XT so it should fit without any issues. However, I am wondering about the TD04 inlet. The VF11 has a 90 inlet that the rubber turbo inlet elbow attaches to. But all the pics of the TD04s I have seen don't have a 90 inlet. How do you attach the TD04 to the stock inlet elbow?

You dont use the stock vf11 inlet pipe. Buy a 2.25 in inner diameter 90 from silicone intakes.com and cut one end off by about one inch, and your all set

Do you need a steel or aluminum coupler to join the silicone elbow to the OEM turbo inlet elbow? Or do you just stuff the silicone 90 into the OEM turbo inlet elbow?

I went to autozone with my silicone 90* and found a short amount of exhaust pipe that fit. Make sure you deburr the crap out of the pipe before you install it on the car ;)

I consider myself a real car guy, and I can't get enough of that noise. But I just settle for hearing it on other people's cars... Maybe I should get a PA system for my car and stick the mic in my intake to make the BPV louder :D

deburr, as in file off the shap edge. and yes, for the entire inlet you will use the 90 as i described above, and then in that silicone 90 on top use a piece of aluminum pipe like mike said and then run that through the rest of your intake to your filter.

With the intake I have and the lack of an in-fender resonator, I can hear the BPV quite well. It may not be as loud as a BOV, but it's still quite noticable.

Mine to, just a bpv with a 4in dp, cat, and muffler. Almost sounds as loud as a bov.

+1 I have the coffee cup mod, and still have the fender "snorkel" installed, but I still hear the PSHHHH of the stock BPV. It endlessly amuses my non-turbo driving friends. :)

I have the Apex'i short-ram, and it did make my BPV much louder when I first installed it. But then I went open exhaust when I did my TD04 and most of the other noises the car makes are now drowned out, so I've mostly forgotten that I could actually hear my BPV at some point.
