Hi, and welcome to the forum! sounds like a fun build. What I recommend, if you don't have access to the whole GC8 car, is to send the harness from your legacy and the new engine's harness to this guy:

http://www.rs25.com/forums/f14/t193621- ... pdate.html

If you have the money, it is literally the easiest way to do a swap. He sends you back a complete harness that plugs into your car. Everything works, speedometer, tachometer, abs, etc etc.

You should post some pictures of your ride, the new engine, and eventually the swap process.

Do you have high octane fuel in Chile? The ECU for that engine is one of the highest tuned, and really needs good fuel. It doesn't run well on our premium. If it doesn't work out, you can always switch ECUs without changing anything else. I recommend the ECU labeled Z4, it ran excellent on crappy American premium.

Here is the list of EJ20G ecu's:

In Japan, that ecu was tuned to use 101+ RON. Thanks for the pics. How do you know that is a STI-RA? The black intercooler was on the Ver 1-2 WRX and Ver 1 STI. The Ver 2 STI and I believe the RA got the silver intercooler with silicone pipe that goes to the turbo, instead of the stupid plastic piece with ribs (it reduces the airflow by half!).

Mike are you talking about the plastic turbo inlet piping?

The plastic inlet piece on the slanty tmic has been tested to reduce airflow by half compared to the STI cast aluminum and silicone piece, on the same tmic. This was from that australian online magazine that tested all the different tmics subaru made. I can find the link if anyone is interested.

I think we're talking about two different things. I was referring to the turbo inlet, not the intercooler inlet, which I think you are referring to. Is that correct?

The MAF that goes with that engine is a green label JECS, the last numbers on it are 160 or 160f. They can be found on 1.8, 2.0 or 2.2 non turbo engines with MPFI fuel injection. The earliest legacys had an aluminum Hitachi maf that will not work. Additionally, the 2nd generation non-turbo legacys usually have the right MAF.
