Fmic Coolant reservoir

Post by tfoote3 »

Im doing a fmic install and i bought the kit for the gc8 and flipped the cooler, and suprise. the oem coolant reservoir is in the way of the coldside pipe, ive got everything else sorted out hopefully. alot of cutting and welding. haha but in the end hopefully its worth it. I wanted to know from people who have had this issue what the solution was for them, ive contemplated cutting it and using fiberglass, but i wanted to know what others have done before i do anything irrational. any and all info is appriciated

Also something to consider is the JDM reservoir. It sits inside the front of the fender and has a small neck in the engine bay. I'll try to snap a pic tomorrow.

You talking about the plastic coolant expansion tank? I used a skinny glass bottle, drilled a hole in the cap and secured it with a metal tie. It worked well. No pics unfortunately. Everything on these cars is so DIY. Haha

Yeah, relocting the battery isnt the issue as i flipped the cooler so the piping isnt in the way of the battery. I was curious to see what others had done, I think I'm just going to slap something together
