Help? my 94 Turbo legacy is making mooing noises like a cow.

My 94 Turbo Legacy started making a low whooshing sound. Only happens when I let off the gas above 2k-3k rpm with some boost built. Honestly, it sounds like a cow mooing. doesn't happen when car shifts in boost. Anyone have any idea what I'm hearing? Should I be worried?

Seem like sound is coming from the rear end.
Car has 140,000 Miles on it.

Welcome to the BBS.

What you are likely hearing is the bypass valve dumping pressure back into the intake. The other possibility is if the bypass valve is not functioning properly it could be compressor surge on the turbo.

Do you have any modifications to the engine/turbo or is it all stock?

I'm going to move your thread to the turbo forum.

Car is all stock.

I am going to try and get a recording with the noise. Can only hear the noise while driving. Unable to recreate noise reving engine while sitting in park or neutral.

Ok, yeah if you can take a recording and upload to youtube or something that would be helpful.
