Single turbo upgrade on JDM twin turbo GT

Post by shadyrich »

Hi Guys,

I'm just about to buy a 1994 JDM GT Wagon.

It has the twin turbo motor.

Does anyone know if its possible to upgrade to a single turbo setup? Possibly from a WRX?

Thanks

Rich

I have heard of it being done. Why single turbo? That is the sequential twin turbo right? Have a look around this Ausie site, I don't think we have any twin turbos on here

the secondary turbo is small, and when you put on a big bore exhaust, it boosts to hard and dies.

I wanna run boost dammit!!!!!!!

There is a way to run parrellel twin turbo :D ie, run two turbos the same size at the same time :) all you need is two same size turbos and reroute the vac hoses.

Yeah dont ditch the twin turbo set up just fine tune it. One commin upgrade is to make a hybrid on the primary (small) turbo by putting the compressor and turbine wheels from the large turbo in the the small turbos housing.

Yeah, I heard those twin turbo engine are very, very hard to tune. Sequential is good, but not for allout performance. I'd moddify it to a parallel setup or go single with a single turbo like the TD06-20G or so.
