Bought a new car(BMW content ITT)

Post by Apex3 »

Thought you guys might be interested in seeing it :-D

It's a project, runs and drives fine but still needs a lot of work. Excited to start on it but I'm not really sure where to start.

I have been fantasizing about this car for the last 9 years, and now I have one  feels good to be back in an e30.

Oh, and don't worry, the Subaru isn't going anywhere.

Is the widebody factory? Also that engine bay looks like no fun to work on.

Awesome car! Classic.

Yeah, Kimo, that's how they came. That was the first generation M3 and was a really special car, back when an M-Series meant something—raw, track capable cars for drivers—not mass production expensive trim levels for status seekers. To me, this is the best M-car after the M1 and, even then, this would be something you'd be more able to really drive.

Nice! The E30 M3 is one of the few BMs that I can take seriously.

Thanks guys

And yup, Evolution nailed it with his description. It also has more touring car wins than any other touring car ever, I read 1300 wins, but I'm not sure if that's accurate. I'd like to make it into a touring car(or maybe Group A rally) replica, but I've got to recover some funds first. The nice thing about buying one in this condition, aside from being able to build it how I want, is that I won't feel bad about driving it, nice examples of these are getting up into the mid 20s or higher, and they keep going up, I would probably freak out every time I drove it if I had one in good shape.

Everything in the engine bay is actually quite accessible, the picture makes it look more complicated than it really is, all the bolts are right there and easy to get to, and there is plenty of space.

No I didn't buy it on r3v, that site seems to be down every time I go on it, I'm not sure if it exists anymore. My brother has some connections in the BMW club and we kinda just lucked out as someone local happened to be looking to unload it and asked the same guy we asked about buying one if he knew anyone who wanted one.

A Gp. A rally car would be maximum badass! But then, you wouldn't want to bend it.

Haha I'm definitely not gonna rally it, it would just be made into a replica but only street driven. I like the Fina scheme if I'm gonna do rally but it's a little boring

Image

Or I could go Rothman's and just make both my cars match

Image

But this one is my favorite, it's a Japanese touring car. This way I can get away with the using the Warsteiner scheme while keeping it unique :D

Very nice score, I'm mad jealous. Is the QP damage as bad as it looks?

I've heard about r3v being down for other people but I have never had a problem with it.

P.S. I love the Hartge wheels!

An M6 would have to be gray market, wouldn't it? I thought the highest level 6-series they exported to the States was the 635csi.

Quarter panel I think can be fixed by a dent repair place, no creases or anything, just a big dent.

They did sell m6's here, not a whole lot of them, also m635's

Ehh, $4k engine, $1500+ bumpers, still some things to worry about :P It's currently parked because I'm afraid to drive it until the valves are adjusted because I don't wanna ruin the engine.
euroshark wrote:m635csi is a european and canadian model. it was a m6 with a longer name lol.
Not quite, but you're right they didn't sell it here, so I'm wrong there.
BMW Motorsport introduced M 635 CSi in Europe at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1983. It is essentially an E24 powered by the powerplant of the BMW M1 - the M88 (286 PS (210 kW; 282 hp)). Most of the cars were equipped with special metric 415 mm diameter wheels requiring Michelin TRX tires. A catalyzed, lower compression ratio version of the car with the S38 engine (260 PS (190 kW; 260 hp)) was introduced in the U.S. in 1987.
Similar, but not quite the same thing.
