Rogue River (Grants Pass, OR) Rafting trip

Post by Legacy777 »

I wanted to throw this out there to see if anyone would be interested in something like this. My brother and I are thinking of setting up a rafting trip on the Rogue River probably in August. I would imagine we'd probably camp, but I can't say for sure on any of the details since I just talked to him about this last night.

We had been down there when we were younger, and I've always wanted to go back. It was a blast.

Yeah, the Rogue is awesome! I grew up fishing the Rogue with my Dad, we had a flat bottom drift boat and would go after salmon and steel head. Great times. We would do the white water thing too, we had a big raft with wood frame rowing and Tahiti's which are like an inflatable Kyhak (sp?)

We would put in up at Lost Creek damn though and did the upper Rogue. Then we would pull out just north of Devils Coffee Pot ( I think that is what it was called). It's a section that is actually closed to rafting, class VII or some crap.

Fun river for sure.

hmm very tempting, even with the 450mi drive from WA. When I was going to college in OR, I rafted the Upper Klamath, Scott, and Salmon rivers -- actually in 2008. They were awesome!

How 'bout this "little" chute on the Salmon? :P

Yeah my brother specifically mentioned the tahitis. I'm not exactly sure when we're going to try and do this. I am probably going to be going back to Japan in August to visit my buddy over there.

My brother lives up in the Seattle area, so I'd probably fly in there and drive down, or possibly fly into portland....I don't know. We'll see.

Talked to a buddy of mine here in Houston and my Brother, and we're looking at trying to set something up in July or August.

I'll share more info when we plan it out if anyone is interested in going.
