ELECTRONIC speedo, either speed scale - will be using a converter to indicate MPH.

Either tach, 9K would add a few $$$.

Either manual or automatic, can use my USDM fuel/temp gauge background to convert to manual, if needed.

So, at bare minimum, the electrical overlay, electronic speedo, and the cluster housing for an electronic speedo. Everything else I can use from my USDM stuff to make a hybrid.
Sweet as. By the looks the facelift 9K tacho's are 5-pin, so can be swapped into normal housings, but unfortunately the electronic speedo thing was AUDM, I've only ever seen one in NZ, and that was my mate's, and he's never selling it. Be aware the electronic clusters are backwards too, speedo right, tach left, and have their own printed circuit, so you must use the entire electronic cluster, and re-pin the plugs, and then just swap over to it what you can. I can supply a 9K tacho on its own for you if you find an electronic speedo cluster to use.
Alphius wrote:OK dude, you got me with the BD/BG cluster. If you can put together a sweet package deal with the prefacelift BD taillights, the cluster and a BD/BG TMIC splitter then you've got my money. And its contributing to a good single turbo BD cause even! I know how much you like that. ;)

Hmmmm, I'll see what I can do... Gotta be crafty with the damn post office... Have to test whether one big parcel, or a few small ones is cheaper. The rate finder on their website is fantastic, but that's not what they use in store, and you can get pinged real bad for oversize items... Bastards... Give me a few days to test some theory's and go have a chat to the post office about the method they use to charge freight. But you have a deal sir.

Btw, i'm skypable guys, my account is simply "Reuben Horsley". Pm me a time you want to chat.

It would be appreciated if you could snap a picture of the back of that tach where it connects to the PCB/shell. I want to make sure it'll swap into my USDM cluster. Also if it somehow makes it easier to ship I'd take just the tach part of the cluster.

It's not a direct swap Alphius. The screw holes are in different locations, you can make it work with some "creative engineering". I should be done with mine in the next couple days and I can send you some pics of how I did it.

Yeah, generally speaking I leave the tach's matched with their original cluster, and swap the speedos around, since they all mount the same.

Oh, and I seccessfully got a BG splitter today, woop!

Ugh, well maybe the cluster won't happen then. I'd still like to see a picture and think about what I can do to fix it. My tach has redline at 6.5k and ends at 7k while my engine has the revlimit set at 7.2k so I'm well into the red and slightly off the end of the tach if I go to the limit. The extra 1k of headroom on the tach would be a sweet factory-looking mod if it can be done in a way that I'm comfortable with.

The splitter and tails I'm definitely interested in though.

I'd say drop the idea of electronic speedo, then you've got plenty of options. Even a standard 8k tach will do yah just fine I'd you want to save pennies.

It's honestly not that daunting, I had to free about half of the circuit board if you want to call it that and drill 3 new holes to hold the jdm tach and will be using jumper wires to connect them to their proper signal connections.
Simply swapping the speedo could work, but the jdm cluster has a different pinout than usdm for the 3 large connectors so you would have to repin most all of the wires on the cluster connectors.

Ah woops, alphius I got mixed up, when you started talking about the tacho stuff I though the custom first gen stuff!

The BG cluster shouldn't be an issue for you surely... I made a pinout a couple years back when I converted to a GC STi cluster so I could have a 9K STi cluster in beast. I put it into image form with a pic of the BG cluster I have in stock. This pinout applies to manual BG/BD GTB's, but may apply to many other JDM models.

I will try find a facelift ECU. It will be no different other than 16-bit over 8-bit, and probably have the socket. I will verify this before posting. Btw, I lied in the first post, i forgot pre face lift was 8-bit, I have updated this now.
MANY THANKS. If it requires pre-payment or anything like that I understand. I just dont feel like ordering one w/o and EEPROM and then messing it up.
Pulled apart a facelift (16-bit) ecu today, greatly different board design. No daughter board hanging off a ribbon cable, and socket location clearly visible. Sadly, no socket present, you would have to solder in your own socket. But I can confirm that this ECU is socket-able, and daughter board/EEPROM chip-able.

Said ECU i looked at is a K8, or Rev-d BF GT Manual, 22611AB230. But this is a friends, so may not be available, i have access to several more though I may pick this weekend.

Sorry I haven't been on here recently guys! I know some of you are waiting on me to get back on shipping and what not, which I have not done. I was away for easter, and since I got back, well... GTA V happened (I've got no consoles), so that was me gone for the best part of the month! any spare time I've had I've been doing the local mechanicing thing, leaving no forum time!

Damn GTA. Seriously, I'm rating it on a pedestal up there with Zelda 64, golden eye and vice city! SO GOOD.

I've now subbed this thread to e-mail notify me with each post now, so any queries or reminders are received instantly, and I clear my e-mail pretty much constantly through the day, so post away, I'm listening.

This statement is correct. I was more of a Perfect Dark fan instead of Golden Eye though.

Ill just check in to see if you have come across any EJ20G ECU's with an eeprom socket?

Yeah I never got to play perfect dark. Was by rare, like golden eye before it, so the two are joined at the hip.

Never did find an ECU, I'll have to find time to head out there and hunt around!

I have had a chance to look into a few 20G ecu's, all of them are like the ones I have already, holes for the socket to be welded into, but no socket present. I'm starting to suspect the socket is an RS only option, as everything I've seen is GT, and the only socket one I've seen is my mates RS ecu. This makes it tricky to get one, as the RS ecu's are sought after locally, given the free 20hp extra you get with their tune, so I can't get em a dime a dozen like the GT ECU's! That said, I'd take $100 NZD for a plane jane GT ECU with that in mind, and leave it up to the individual to solder their own socket in.

And sorry everyone at my marked absence from here still. Currently I'm prioritising what's making me money at the moment, and that's the working on peoples cars side of the business. I've got 4 head gasket jobs ahead of me in the coming weeks, and i'm quietly shitting myself about it all. But otherwise all is going swimmingly, I have an official name "Subaru Specialists", or "Subie Specs" for short, and I've found workshop space to rent, just have to wait a few weeks/months for it to become available. Business cards and proper local advertising are to come, it's all happening and I'm very excited!

In other news, a strong USD and a weak NZD have made it very difficult to purchase stuff from around the world online, but it makes it super easy for me to sell, so prices are very much negotiable at the moment, maybe 15-20% off? Try me.

Ah, sorry, shipping I'd guess would be about $30 USD, so $30USD for it sounds good... $60USD total. Did you see the pic of it that I uploaded?
